Exhibition : "The Uniqueness of Colour" by Caroline COPPEY, a contemporary visual artist

An exhibition in the château’s reception rooms, the chapel and the garden, featuring a selection of iconic works by Caroline Coppey, a visual artist who has been exploring colour and light for 30 years.
Caroline Coppey, an expert on Claude Monet and author of a thesis entitled *Claude Monet, à l’école de l’œil* (published by L’Harmattan in 2013), regularly exhibits her work in gardens. Her exhibition in Bois-Guilbert, running from 4 July to 1 November, is presented as a continuation of the exhibition paying tribute to Claude Monet at his home in Argenteuil in 2023.
Caroline Coppey’s work is based on a radical exploration of painting, with colour as its driving force. Since 1998, she has been developing a unique approach, known as the ‘Uniqueness of Colour’, which involves isolating a single colour and then subjecting it to a series of successive transformations.
This colour palette gives rise to a multitude of forms — paintings, installations, textile and digital works — forming a coherent and evolving whole.
Her practice is based on a rigorous yet sensitive approach, in which the material is experimented with, manipulated and transformed (poured, crumpled, fragmented), and in which each work forms part of a dynamic of series and interrelationships.
At the same time, Caroline Coppey maintains an ongoing dialogue with music through collaborations, stage designs and cross-disciplinary creations, particularly in Normandy.
Often conceived in close connection with their venue, her works occupy not only exhibition spaces but also architectural and landscape settings, emphasising an immersive and contextual dimension.
In her future studio, currently being fitted out in Saint-Aubin de Scellon in the Eure, close to nature, Caroline Coppey will continue to paint her canvases directly on the floor.
